Other Health Statistics

If you couldn't find the statistics you were looking for on any of our other pages, you may be able to find them here:

Asthma

The Asthma Control Program seeks to reduce the burden of asthma and improve the quality of life for Pennsylvania residents who are affected by asthma in any way.

Their asthma surveillance reports include:

  • Surveillance Data
  • Hospitalizations

  • Disparities

Other publications, such as fact sheets, can also be found on the Asthma Control Program's site, along with links to more information on Asthma.

Diabetes

Diabetes data are available in Chronic Disease Burden Report, which contains surveillance data, including trends and mortality statistics, at the state and county level. This report contains information and data to both educate individuals and organizations on the burden of diabetes and to provide them with the tools necessary to plan effective interventions for all those affected by diabetes in Pennsylvania.

Health Care Workforce

The Department of Health realizes the importance of having enough healthcare professionals. We distribute surveys to licensed healthcare professionals during their license renewal process, so that, we have a better understanding of this workforce. We can then make plans to ensure that we have enough physicians, physician assistants, nurses, dentists, and dental hygienists to continue to deliver much needed health services in our state. The results of these surveys can be found in our Health Care Workforce Reports.

Managed Care

The Bureau of Managed Care collects information on the number of people enrolled in a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO). This data is available in Managed Care Reports that show the number enrolled in HMOs by county and also by plan or product line.

School Health Statistics

The Department of Health's School Health Program provides data on the health of school-aged children in Pennsylvania in their School Health Statistics Reports, which cover topics such as:

  • Certified school nurses
  • Dental services
  • Growth and BMI screenings
  • Medication administration
  • Serious school injuries
  • Supplemental health staff

The program's website also includes information on school-health-related laws and regulations, medical recommendations, educational opportunities, grant opportunities, and additional resources.
